Roofnest Falcon Keder Cord / Zipper Adjustment. It seems the tent material attached to the Top Shell of our Roofnest Falcon XL was incorrectly installed.
In this post, we share our experience of correcting this easy-to-fix problem.
Roofnest Falcon Keder Rail Cord Adjustment
The first thing I wanted to put out there is we love our Roofnest. We are extremely happy with our Roofnest Falcon XL Roof Top Tent. Other than this one small issue it has been a fun and worthwhile investment 😀
The Problem
Roofnest Falcon Zipper Cord Pulled From the Keder Track
Lying down relaxing before bed I noticed some light shining through a gap in the corner of the top shell. The Keder Cord attaching the tent material to the Top Shell had been incorrectly installed leaving a large gap in the corner. Thinking back I remember seeing a similar problem posted by a member of the Roofnest Flock Facebook Group. A Roofnest Rep commented on that post asking the OP to email a message to support@roofnest.com. So I did just that.
The Support
Roofnest Support Is Awesome
Roofnest was fast to respond to my query. Sending over detailed instructions for the work needed to correct the problem. Along with this they also helped me out with additional mounting hardware and track-mounted eye-bolts and two more awning poles. It was very generous of them and appreciate the gesture.
The Fix
Zip-Off The Tent Canvas and Adjust The Keder Cord
I have had experience with this type of assembly before so the process of resetting the Keder Cord / Zipper Cord into the track was easy.
Let’s Get To It – Roofnest Falcon Keder Rail Cord Adjustment
Step-1 Prevent The To Shell From Opening Fully
I used some nylon rope and carabiners to make a simple clip-on lanyard. Tied to a length that holds the top shell down about 5 inches.
Step-2 Unzip Tent Material From Top Shell
This zipper can be found inside at the foot of the tent. Behind an easily removed weather flap.
Step-3 Reinstall Keder Cord Into Keder Rail
Adjusting the Keder only took a few minutes of gentle back and forth. Feeding cord back from each end, allowed the cord to pull onto the feed. No need to remove the whole piece, just a little back and forth.
Step-4 Zip Tent Material Back Onto The Top Shell
Zipping it back together was a little trickier than the in-zip but not by much. Four hands would be nice but I made do with two.
