The Energizer Vision is a great lantern for emergencies and camping. It is plenty bright and with the handy feature of being a USB power bank phone charger, it is my new favorite lantern for camping, Van Life, and home emergency use.
Choosing The Best Rechargeable LED Lantern For Camping And Power Outages
When choosing our lantern there were a few questions to answer.
First up, how many lumens do you need for a good camping lantern? While 100 Lumens is sufficient light for close proximity or in a small space like a tent. If you want to light up your whole campsite you are going to need at least 500 Lumens or more.
Is 1000 lumens too bright? For camping and emergency purposes a 1000 Lumen lantern is not too bright. 1000 Lumens sufficient lighting to carry out most tasks.
How long do rechargeable lanterns last? It is common to see runtimes of 4-5 hours on high settings and 30 hours and up for lower settings.
Who makes the best rechargeable lantern?
We had some basic prerequisites when choosing a new rechargeable lantern to best suit our needs. One, it had to be rechargeable. Two, USB output for device charging. And three, a 1000 Lumens light output.

Things I Like About The Energizer Vision Rechargeable Lantern
Nightlight Mode
- The 100-lumen and Nightlight Brightness modes make it very functional. The diffusing lens shade makes the LED a little easier on the eyes. Nightlight mode is especially useful, giving off a soft warm light perfect for sleeping.
USB Cable Storage Compartment
- You can always have your USB cable handy when storing it in the built-in USB Cable Storage Compartment. This compartment is also quite large having space for multiple cables
Built-In Carry Handle
- The lantern is extremely easy and comfortable to carry using the built-in handle. The handle is layered with textured rubber non-slip grip. The top handle coupled with the stable base makes it easy to carry and set down where needed. No annoying wire legs that double as carry handles.
USB Phone Charger
- The addition of a USB output port is surprisingly convenient. Given that when the power is out you don’t have ready access to the usual USB ports. And with the aforementioned cable storage compartment, you always have a charging cable close by.
Using The Energizer Vision Rechargeable Lantern
In use, the lantern is very functional. With more than enough lighting power to brightly illuminate a campsite or living room. The powerful lithium-ion battery will keep the 1000-lumen high mode running for up to 5 hours. While the low-power mode will easily run all night.
Charging Instructions
How do you charge an Energizer rechargeable lantern?
Charging is easy using the included Micro USB cable to plug into the conveniently located USB port. The USB charging port is behind a rubber flap on the side of the unit.
How long does it take to charge the Energizer Vision lantern?
Charge time for the Energizer Vision lantern varies depending on the charge amp. Using a QC 3.0 the charge time is much less than the stated 8hr charge time listed in the spec sheet.
How do you know when an Energizer rechargeable Vision Lantern is fully charged?
Charge status is displayed with a red light indicator. You can find it behind the rubber charge cover next to the USB port.
