We picked up a NOCO GB40 Boost Plus Jump Starter as a safety measure in the unfortunate situation of having a dead battery. NOCO Boost Plus GB40 Review

The Boost Plus is a compact Lithium-Ion battery booster pack with enough power to start most common vehicles as well as being a portable power bank and LED flashlight.

Keep reading our NOCO Boost Plus GB40 Genius Boost+ Review to see why we think this is a must-have Van Life Accessory.

NOCO Boost Plus GB40 12V 1000 Amp Lithium Booster Pack Jump Starter

The NOCO Boost Plus GB40 is more than just a Booster Pack. It has powerful jump starter abilities coupled with a useful flashlight and USB power bank output. We’ll still carry a set of jumper cables but the GB40 offers a new level of convenience and ease. Van Life Approved

Things I Like About The NOCO Boost Plus GB40

High Capacity Battery

  • The High Capacity battery means I don’t need to charge it right after using it, and It doesn’t need to be fully charged to jump-start a vehicle. The spec sheet says you can get up to 20 starts from a full charge.

Functions As Power Bank

  • The NOCO Boost+ also functions as a Power Bank to charge external devices. You can easily charge a battery with a Noco boost by using the appropriate USB charging cable. Plugged into the 2.1A USB Outlet located at the end of the unit opposite the flashlight.

Small Enough To Store In Van

  • The small size of the NOCO Boost Plus GB40 makes it convenient to store permanently in our van tool compartment. The NOCO website does specifically mention not to store in direct sunlight and high temperatures. I can leave Noco Boost in my car, kept long term in one of the shaded storage it is still working with no problems.

Long Lasting Battery

  • The long-lasting Lithium battery can hold a charge for a long time. To keep the battery healthy We recharge after each use and then periodically every 4-6 months. It has always worked well when needed.

Recharges Quickly Via Common USB Charge Port

  • How long does it take to charge a NOCO Boost Plus GB40?  Charge time can vary (anywhere from 12 to 3 hours depending on the battery level and USB charger amperage. Even so, the convenience of charging via a micro USB cable is great. We make our GB40 charge faster using QC3.0 USB chargers in our van. It is easy to know if the NOCO GB40 is charging the charging status by viewing the charge LEDs located on the front of the unit.

Using The NOCO Boost Plus

How do I use my Noco Boost plus GB40?

Using the NOCO Boost Plus GB40 is as simple as following the charging instructions to fully charge the battery. Once fully charged it is ready to use as an emergency jump starter and booster pack.

The Boost Cables are separate from the battery during storage. To jump-start using the NOCO GB40, you connect the booster cables to the battery and then clip onto the battery terminals using the strong alligator clips. You can tell it’s working by checking the LED Lights. A quick look at the LED lights will also show the battery levels, charge status as well as any possible errors.

Recharging the NOCO is easy due to the internal BMS. This means you can leave a NOCO charging overnight without worrying about overcharging or overheating. Very convenient.Using The NOCO Boost Plus GB40

Hi there not sure what’s gone wrong there. My noco gb 40 starts my 3.8 petrol with no problem. Also have the 70 and 150 for different applications. Massively happy with all of them. Plus had them for at least 2 years. The 150 is used at a garage and in use all the time in the cold weather

Hi I was bought one of these for Christmas last year. I used it once and thought I would charge it as it’s been in the car for a while . The red diamond warning light came on which apparently says it’s detected reverse polarity when it’s not connected to any battery , just trying to charge . I have swapped charger unit and same and in fact now it’s disconnected from charger it’s still red and on .

I’m not very pleased with my Noco GB40. I’ve owned it for over 2 years and and kept it charged as suggested. Every time I attempted to use it, the GB 40 doesn’t have enough power to do the job. I’m currently waiting for a response from Noco support regarding my experience with it.

I’m kind of disappointed in n the performance. I’ve used GB 40 to start my corvette and my lawn tractor about 5 times. And now it takes forever to charge and will hardly hold one. Maybe I got a lemon.
