Van Rear Door Floor Edge Trim. It’s funny how good you feel when you cap off a project.

Our Van Rear Door Floor Edge Trim is another, “tie it all together” project that makes all that hard work pay off.

The Fascia Board

To cover the layers of flooring and build a solid edge foundation, we needed to install some type of fascia board. Unfortunately, the height required did not match any of the commonly available wood sizes, and we didn’t have any offcuts to suit. We had our local wood supplier rip down a piece of 1×3 framing lumber to match the thickness of the floor.

Trimming To Fit

Using a jigsaw, we notched out the corners to fit between the two rear D-Pillars.

Pre-Drill And CounterSink

To prevent any splitting and to make the final installation as easy as possible, we used a Countersinking Drill Bit to pre-drill and countersink the screw holes.

Stain And Seal

We are happy with the durability of the one-step Stain and Urethane coatings from Varathane. It is quick and easy to paint on and gives a layer of protection to the wood.

Van Rear Door Floor Edge Trim – Installed

The fascia board is glued and screwed in place then the aluminum stair tread is screwed down on top. Also, to stop water from flowing under the floorboards, we sealed with a bead of doors and windows sealant.

Job Well Done

It’s so good to install the final touches to a project and see it all come together so nicely. The floor has been done for a while now and climbing over the unfinished step every day, I don’t know why we didn’t finish this sooner, priorities I guess. It looks and professional!
